<西风>是出自于无名氏之手。最早记载的版本是出自于亨利8世宫廷乐师拥有的一本
书。当时的原句是：
Westron wynde when wyll thow blow
The smalle rayne downe can Rayne
Chryst yf my love were in my Armys
And I yn my bed Agayne
1859年，William Chappell把它大改特该成：
Westron wynde when wyll thou blow?
The smalle rain down 'doth' rayne;
'Oh!' if my love were in my armys,
'Or' I in my bed a-gayne.
经后人的小心推敲后，现代版是：
O Western wind, when wilt thou blow
That small rain down can rain?
Christ, that my love were in my arms,
And I in my bed again.

这诗一直是教堂里唱的赞歌之一，因此严肃一点的翻译应该是：
噢，春风何时吹拂
带来那绵绵细雨？
