Once in New York, a professor from Tokyo’s woman university invited us to a Japanese restaurant for dinner. We were curious about the variety of dishes and asked the professor to explain. Because of the difficulty in his English, the professor asked a waiter to do it instead. To his surprise, the waiter did not know anything about it and admitted that he was a Chinese. It was turned out this was actually a Chinese owned Japanese restaurant. Of course, we did not have enough because of the small amount food in each dish and one of my colleagues said to me after the dinner that he needed a Hamburger. I said to him: “me too.”
The professor came over here all the way from Japan on his own expense to do the surgery on animals for us. Up to now, I still don’t understand why the professor himself paid for the dinner rather than our boss.
