(CRA) in 1995, making it easier for lawyers to sue banks. Such lawsuits usually lasted years because it was difficult to determine whether such banks had actually breached the law (the terms of the act were vague). The key is that the repackaging of subprime mortgages into "structured financial products" happened exclusively in the Bush years (2004-2007).
By the way, Fannie and Freddie started buying subprime mortgages (or alt-A, as they preferred to call them) en masse only after late 2005. Bush and Pualson obviously knew that the quality of mortgage-backed securities (MBS) issued by Fannie and Freddie had deteriorated since 2005 when Pualson tried to sell them to the Chinese government.
