桂质柏(1900.8—1979.6)，男，湖北江夏人， Graduated from American Columbia University library science research institute in 1928, obtained the master's degree of library science. Graduated from American Chicago University library science research institute in 1931, got the doctorate. He is the first library science doctor in our country. Took the post as the first manager of Wuhan library of Chinese Academy of Sciences from August of 1956 to March of 1971.
