And the controvercial extends to the question 谁在写？为什么写？http://www.allthingsgo.us/xerox/txt/lunwen116.htm which is even more intrigue.
In the light of 谁在写？为什么写? I'd like to propose this poll 'Do you think 东京博士 " 魂断日本桥 " worth your time of reading? Has more value than time you spent willingly to read his novel?
I must confess that i do not find " 魂断日本桥 " interest me at all after reading a couple episode in the beginning and the most recent one. So i can only cast my vote as absentee. But just as my own writings never interest more than a couple close friends, as serious or casual writer, i believe encouragement or discouragement of writing seldom depend on other's view but one's own calling to write or remain silent about anything small or grand.
A Russian colleague asked me to give her something to read for entertainment. I picked up one that's sitting on my shelves. A collection of short novels by Jun'ichiro Tanizaki "A cat, a man and two women". I liked it very much. She returned my book after a couple of weeks with this remark "This is an amazing writer. I couldn't find anything online about his work in Russian language though".
