WHEN I WAS A DOG
1.

Ah, if only young men
were like dogs
that bound over,
wagging their tails.
Their wet tongues
licking you,
they'd only want love,
not the kind with wary eyes
that snarl
if you reach out
to stroke them.

Their devotion to us
is a mystery.
Are they studying up on us?
People obsessed with animals --
cat people, dog lovers --
could have been assigned the role
of protecting them
to prepare them
for future lives as humans.
When I message my scalp
I seem to remember
when I was a dog,
or the head remembers being a dog's
and how delicious it was
to be patted and stroked,
and how I still need it desparately

Power Source
Like harnessing
the tides
or the wind,
how about attaching
dogs' tails
to power generators?
I want the job
of patting the dog
to keep its tail
wagging!
We'll illuminate
whole cities,
countries --
together, we'll
light up the world!
