the freedom to believe has nothing to do with whether the thing a person believes is wrong or right. It is the freedom that a human being should enjoy.People can argue on whose belief is right or wrong, but people have no right to shut up others' mouths or dictate what others should believe. Only through debate can we try to find out right or wrong and our society can go forward. That is why we need freedom of speech and freedom of religion. In US, the freedom to make political speech and freedom to believe are jealously guarded by the first amendment. This is one of the reasons why US is strong strong.
