Bird to Acquire Mobile Phone Business from Siemens

BEIJING, Dec 17, 2004 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- A reliable source revealed today that the overall situation that China's mobile phone maker Bird acquires mobile phone business of Siemens has settled. But the two parties still kept silent.
The source took part in the negotiation himself, and he unveiled that Siemens had held talks with China's top PC maker Lenovo before. Nevertheless, they did not arrive at agreement because of dispute on some details, and then Bird has turned tobe the most competitive buyer for this business.
In May this year, in an effort to combine the two parties' advantages, and develop and sell mobile phones, Siemens Mobile and Bird had signed a memorandum of understanding.
Earlier, it was widespread that Siemens would withdraw from theChinese market, and the company had denied the rumor for many times.
At the moment, Siemens and Bird are under negotiation over details, but no more information about acquisition is available.
