As soon as I reported to the public my computer problem, almost everyone I know at this forum stepped out to give me all sorts of suggestions and advices. What is more, even those with little knowledge of computer showed their concern. To tell you the truth, I am deeply touched, guys. Even only for this heart-warming concern, it would have been worthwhile going through what I have been through for the past five years. So please allow me to express my gratitude to everyone. Guys, I do love you all, though as always, in the bitter-sweet-spicy Ludi’s way.
Now the situation is like this. I called my friend last night. Unfortunately, he is away for a meeting. A moment ago, I asked the computing gurus of my institute for advice. They told me that it would be even more harmful to give me some advice without seeing the machine. So they told me to bring the computer in for them to have a look. They would try to boot (what does this stupid term mean? To start? To kick off?) it and then sort out the problem. If it was infected with virus, they would kill it as they had necessary means. Most importantly, they assured me that the data stored in my computer would be safe.
I must say this is a great relief. I would not give a damn if I could not use that computer, but I do worry about the data stored in it. So I can heave a sigh of relief now.
In the mean time, I find my life more worth living. Now I sleep better, smoke less, and feel more energetic. Moreover, I can spend loads of time doing other things like watching telly, reading, going for a walk, etc.
Thus, only now do I realize that life with constant writing on line is indeed the most miserable sort of drudgery or even slavery. Maybe the computer incident is a warning from God. I should give it a serious thought to stop writing altogether. After all, the world can manage without me, can’t it? What I have written is enough for the Chinese people to study hard for generations to come:))
