Life was born at the beginning of the universe and is everywhere. Bacteria can survive indefinitely in the cold, and can thrive in exteme enviroments, incliding those without oxygen or sunlight. It also has been proven that bacteria get stronger while in space. The question should not be 'is there life in space'?. The question is, where is it hiding? The life you find most of the time will not be highly evolved, but given the right conditions, like say, a stable envronment, there's no telling what you might find.
