徐 文 立 为 施 军 遭 递 解 出 境 事 致 美 国 移 民 局 的 信 函
尊敬的美国移民局：
我是徐文立。
我是1978年中国民主墙运动发起人之一，亦是1998年中国民主党创建人之一。我二次被中国政府判刑共28年，前后二次坐牢16年。现在，我在美国于布朗大学沃森国际研究所任教，以及负责“中国民主党海外流亡总部”和“关注中国中心”基金会的工作。
当1998年11月9日，“中国民主党京津党部”正式成立之后，消息传到了北美，在美国的施军用电话向“京津党部”和我本人提出了入党的申请，鉴于中国民主党是一个现代型的政党组织，它的组织原则是非常开放的。于是，党部和我决定接纳施军的入党请求，只要求他按当时的“临时党章”在电话上进行了入党宣誓。之后不久，即1998年11月30日，我便再次被捕入狱。

A Letter In Regard to the Case of Mr. Jun Shi
Dear Officers of the United States Immigration and Citizenship Service,
It gives me great honor to correspond with you.
I am Wenli Xu, one of the founders of the Democracy Wall Movement in 1978 and also a co-founder of the Chinese Democracy Party in 1998. I have been arrested twice by the Chinese government for my political activities and sentenced to a total of 26 years in prison, of which I served 16 years. Currently, I am a professor at the Watson Institute of International Studies at Brown University and also serve concurrently as the convener of the Democratic Party Overseas Exile Headquarter as well as the Chairman of the Caring for China Center (CCC).
On November 19, 1998, the Chinese Democratic Party Beijing-Tianjing Chapter was officially established, and this news spread to North America. Mr. Jun Shi, who was residing in the United States at the time, called me (I was still in China at that time) to express his interest in joining the party. Because the Chinese Democratic Party is a very modern political organization, its organizational principle is very open and accepting. After I discussed this matter with the other leaders of the party, we have agreed to accept Mr. Shi’s request to join the party. Later, Mr. Shu swore the party oath over the telephone upon the “provisional constitution” of the party, and officially became a member of the Chinese Democratic Party. On November 30, 1998, I was arrested and imprisoned.
