At approximately 10:00am this morning the High School administration was notified of an alleged bomb threat. The threat was written on a bathroom wall and detailed a specific time with today’s date. The High School safety plan was immediately put into action and the Town of Evans police department was contacted. Arrangements were made to evacuate all individuals in the High School to the Middle School. At that time the Town of Evans Police Department contacted several police agencies including; the New York State Troopers, the Erie County Sheriff’s Department and the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority. These agencies responded to the High School within a short time with four (4) bomb-sniffing dogs and had the building cleared by 1:00pm. The students were returned to the High School by approximately 1:30pm. All students and school personnel were safe at all times as the District-Wide Safety plan was effective throughout this incident. The investigation into this incident is continuing and those responsible for this infraction will be held accountable per the District’s Code of Conduct as well as any charges filed through the appropriate authorities. The Lake Shore faculty, staff and student body should be commended for their immediate response and cooperation throughout this incident.
