I have crossed the us-canada border on land several times and has never had such a bad luck this time when I was crossing a tiny border called Norton in Vermont on the US side. It's a place where there is no house, no people and no life.
Perhaps it was early morning, there was no one crossing it. When I went to an empty post, there was a women coming out from a room 10 meters away to the post. After inspected my passport, she asked several questions as usual such as "do you bring in cigarettes? where are you going and how long are you going to stay, etc". I said I came to visit by chance and would be back to the US in the afternoon.
For some reasons I still don't understand, she asked me to pull the car aside for a search. I did.
A guy with fatty body and short legs and arms came out asking me to leave the car. He checked everything, inside and outside my car. It took about a half of an hour for him to finish the job. Then i got my passport back after he said to the border clerk woman in French.
When I was back to my car, I found out that my 4 boiled eggs that was my emergency food were cracked. Thank you very much! I threw them away. When I was in Montreal, my car's remote lock did not work for me anymore and I started swearing again, fuck you very much!
I have been wondering why they did this to me? A remote area where no Chinese to be seen or because they dislike asians or because I don't speak French? At any rate, I don't think this was a random event.
