Spent one hour to explore the city of Bangor, the heart of Maine geographically.
I wont say it's a ghost town, but at night definitely it will be like that. I will take an another look at night to prove my prediction if I have guts.
Today is Sunday, nineteenth of August, two thousand and seven and I'm in the heart.
Past:
In the 19th century, Bangor was a center of the timber and logging business and at one point late in the century was said to be the richest city per capita in the world.
Now:
The median income for a household in the city was $29,740, and the median income for a family was $42,047. Males had a median income of $32,314 versus $23,759 for females. The per capita income for the city was $19,295. About 11.9% of families and 16.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.9% of those under age 18 and 13.1% of those age 65 or over.
