"Real median household income in the United States rose by 1.1 percent between 2004 and 2005, reaching $46,326, according to a report released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. Meanwhile, the nation’s official poverty rate remained statistically unchanged at 12.6 percent. The percentage of people without health insurance coverage rose from 15.6 percent to 15.9 percent (46.6 million people)."

There is no statistics on income difference. Don't know where "1% of population have 16% of total income" is from.
The reate of poverty in blacks and hispanics is higher, being about 20-24%. This explains why there is less opposition from poors. I would reckon there would be lots of red flags waving if they were whites.
Another thing is that it is not known who are not medically insured. Anyway, on one will have energy to speak out if he is sick, secondary to the uninsured status.
