An Enigma of Cleobulus
There is one father and twelve children. Each of these has twice thirty children of different aspect; some of them we see to be white and the others black, and though immortal, they all perish.

The Philosopher Cleobulus was born on the island of Rhodes around 5th B.C. Diogenes of Laertius credits him with the authorship of nearly three thousand lines of proverb-like songs and riddles, few of which have survived.
