Last year, i posted two short paragraphs following this discussion on a paper 'Evolution and God: two theories to believe' written by a professor of human genetics and psychiatry. http://www.allthingsgo.us/xerox/EvolutionAndGod.txt
I happened to re-visit kuro5hin.org site the other day where i originally posted my viewpoint. After seasonal changes, how many people experienced revelations that forever changed their onlook of worldly life as we must live and leave when our alotted time ends? I suspect a fair number of people do experience divinity that set them on a life long and life short pilgrim just as Dante has written in the Divine Comedy of inferno, purgatory and paradiso
From my understanding and in my language, GOD is definitely NOT a theory. Evolution is a theory and without it, nothing concerning our living Universe makes sense according to the majority of scientists specializing in many fields of scientific inquiries. Yet for my own life, to make sense of this ONE and only life that i AM its sole subject among numerous other lives that have the equal power to subject my life as part of their objective Universe, i fear that i MUST resort to the power of GOD, Holy Ghost and son of God to make peace for ALL lives to live out their due cause and time. Yet if my WILL is to be oblivion like a solidary Universe on its own, then, perhaps, GOD is irrelevant as long as the only permissible will is nihilism.
For a better grasp of my understanding on GOD and His creative power, please trace it back to last year's discussion.[my own view is expressed under pen name sye] http://www.allthingsgo.us/xerox/txt/DiscussEvolutionAndGod.txt
If GOD remains as an illusive or superstitious opium by your conviction, i will not argue any further but rehearse this saying by Lao Zi. Perhaps, Lao Zi is your GOD without you ever know Him or mistaken him for a butterfly resting on a drop of dew?
Tao can be talked about, but not the Eternal Tao.
Names can be named, but not the Eternal Name.
As the origin of heaven-and-earth, it is nameless:
As "the Mother" of all things, it is nameable.
So, as ever hidden, we should look at its inner essence:
As always manifest, we should look at its outer aspects.
These two flow fro mthe same source, though differently named:
And both are called mysteries.
The Mysteries of mysteries is the Door of all essence.
