I agree that one cannot do anything to direct a society unless he is the Great Helmsman. In this sense, you are absolutely right and I am not arguing with you about that.
But a society can be designed, given proper conditions. The USA, USSR and Nazi Germany are such examples. But again, I am not the grand architect.
I fully understand what you were trying to say. "With enough food and clothing then people start to learn good manners". I did not have to read Guan Zhong to learn this simple fact as my own experience has taught me: during the Great Famine, we were reduced to brutal animals, seizing food from others' mouths. When the famine was over, we became good boys again, with no special efforts made by the teachers or parents to help us.
However, I am afraid you missed my point completely. You fail to see that it was not poverty, but affluence, that caused the collapse of the morality. We were much, much richer in material lives than before, but we are much poorer in spiritual lives. I would not give a damn about this, were it not for the fact that the collapse of social morality amounts to the accumulation of the social crises. Please do not forget that China now is on the edge of another revolution. If that happened, then the whole country would slide into the blood sea and the bottomless abyss of catastrophe.
Sadly, thanks to the brain-washing by the communist bandits, most of the Chinese people, especially the so-called "intellectuals", have been turned most effectively into idiots. So much so that they do not know that revolution is massive suicide committed by the whole nation. Rather, they believe it to be something wonderful, worthy of looking forward to, just like a tour to Disneyland!
This is the sole purpose of my writing in the BBS: to alert everyone the abyss we are facing so that we can do something about it. Morality is one of the crisis that might lead to social upheavals. I am concerned about this matter not because I am a saint, but because I am a die-hard counterrevolutionary.
I am sorry I am not going to discuss this matter with you or with anyone else, because I have left the web. As I said before, I am only finishing what I started. This done, I won't be back anymore. It is a sheer waste of my talents writing for less than 300 people, to say nothing about the senseless fights I got involved in. Just imagine: spending hours and hours to write something to prove to the public most convincingly that someone is unable to think properly! What a stupid thing to do! What an idiot I have been, wasting three years of my life on the BBS! It is high time I started to write FOR MONEY AND REAL FAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
