My friend Luke is the most gifted freelancing hardcore programmer, a published author and a poet I know. What he produces and contributes to the free society at large are mostly ideas embodied in computer programs and code library foundations etc... Yet his view on intellectual property is the most avant-garde IMHO.
Lawers make laws, police enforcing the law to the best of their capability. Freeholders and practitioners from all walks of life care not about laws but to expand their own ways of living by their own means. 10 commandments and consitutional law in US works so far so good for this new country. But it faces enormous challenge on the international arena when countries with far heavier and groomier burdens of the past try to undone what was done wrong.
Without much ado, here's Luke's view on IP. The growth of internet makes many IP claims and enforcement ridiculously naive to say the least. We must have a radical understanding and mindfulness towards IP.
