I don’t think I have much to say that people in the West don’t know already. The irony is that it is the Chinese people who haven’t gotten the message: That they need to confront the true history of the Cultural Revolution. That they need to teach it to their children and their children’s children, so they learn to recognize monsters like Mao and Hitler for their true color and learn to control their passion. Sadly, the truth is that China goes mad periodically. In recent history the period seems to be 50 years, there was the Taiping rebellion during which 20million people perished. Fifty years later, we have the Boxers’ rebellion; another 50 years later, the Cultural Revolution. Almost another 50 years have passed since the last fit and Mao is already the greatest hero among Chinese teenagers....
I admit that writing and posting in English here is probably not very productive, but typing in Chinese with pinyin is just too slow. I get a list whatever I type in pinyin and I go panic.
