dear hjclub members:
Today is Ash Wednesday, marking the return of all things to dust. When there is no death, there shall be no new life. So let's rejoice on the death of dying things and renounce the blessed face. May you experience life and grace in every moment when you have to look death and terror squarely in the eye.
I was stunned by T.S.Eliot's poem 'Ash Wednesday' when I first heard of it from Karen Armstrong on NPR. I feel like being converted to whatever religion the poet holds dear right on the spot. Karen Armstrong's life is rather peculiar, to say the least. (http://www.randomhouse.com/modernlibrary/karmstrong.html).
I can go on and on about this poem solace to my own troubledd life. But then, no thing can replace careful reading of the original text. So let's start, shall we?
