You have to give credit to Mao's achievement in getting millions illiterate mass to be able to read and follow 口号 which becomes a deviant foundation of the only social life at his time. Remember, people has a profound need to follow a savior or a satan pretending to be the savior. Western civilization has successfully built very complex social systems so that unknowingly the reverend savior of humankind is the universal TIME. Every human activity is built upon synchronization of our TIME. Work compensation, capital distribution are all functions of time. But TIME is not real. Social system built on TIME alone is bound to fail to bring true happiness to humankind. Thus Christianity gives us the son of GOD whose promise of eternal life transcends our TIME. In our death, we spoke of ourselves and reunite with our divine source and eternal peace.
