I guess this ia a jargon used by the soldiers. It seems to mean that instead of
exchanging fire, "You're just receiving fire and trying to get through as fast
as you can."
A similar expression is "sitting duck", which means you expose yourself to
the enemy's fire.
As you know, my English is no good and Gumi is the real expert whom you shold
consult.
